Power of God’s Word
After turning the key that results in a born-again spirit, there is now the ability to read this parable with spiritual eyes and deeper understanding. God uses the scriptures to build a faith-filled life. A great life. The main scripture on this site is found in Mark 4:1-20 NKJV and it’s the parable of the sower. This is the most important parable Jesus taught His disciples. He explains how God works behind the natural realm in building a fruitful life.
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 NKJV)
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV)
The parable simply demonstrates that God sows the Word like a farmer sows seeds. Like seeds, the Word of God can bring forth fruits when sown ONLY on good soil. The statistics are dismal. Only 1 out of 4 seeds bring forth fruits of 30-fold, 60-fold and 100-fold. The strategy is understanding the 3 ways of unfruitfulness. There is therefore no excuses for unfruitfulness.
Along the path – Satan comes immediately to steal for the word’s sake. There is simply lack of understanding God’s Word.
On rocky places – Persecution comes to stumble for the word’s sake. These are external forces.
Among thorns – Worldly distraction (cares of the world, deceitfulness of riches, desires for other things) comes to choke for the word’s sake. These are internal forces.
Meditating on this concept day and night results in deepening of understanding of God’s Word like roots digging deeper into the soil (below the surface ground not visible to the eye). A good way to meditate on the parable of the sower is to write a journal in a simple format. Here’s an example (from OSL -Operation Solid Lives)
S (scriptures): Mark 4:15 NKJV “The sower sows the word. And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.”
O (my observation): the seeds that fell by the wayside were taken and devoured by the birds
A (my application): When I hear God’s Word without understanding, it’s like the seed that fell on the path and stolen by the birds. For the Word’s sake, Satan comes to steal. It’s like the saying, “going in one ear and out the other ear.” Recognizing this, I must take time to meditate on the word of God so that I can better understand.
P (prayer): Father God, please help me understand and abide in Your Word so I can be fruitful. I am tired of losing in life. Most importantly, please help me recognize the tactics of Satan so I can avoid the traps and temptations. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
A very significant but commonly unrecognized hindrance to engage in God’s Word is unresolved grief. This is a significant emotional experience due to a loss that results in difficulty engaging in life fully because a heartbroken soul speaks words that can counteract God’s Word and His promises.
